Description: Hintergrund: PflegeassistentInnen (PA) und diplomiertes
Gesundheits- und Krankenpflegepersonal (DGKP) stellen in der stationären
Altenpflege psychisch und physisch stark belastete Berufsgruppen dar. Die
Kompression des vierten Ventrikels (CV4) zielt unter anderem auf die Psyche und
den Organismus ab, um dessen Selbstheilung und Homöostase zu regulieren. Ziel
dieser Studie ist es herauszufinden, ob durch einen CV4 die psychische
Belastung und Beanspruchung von Pflegekräften beeinflusst werden kann.
Womöglich können somit negative gesundheitliche Folgen minimiert und
Langzeitkrankenstände, Burnout oder vorzeitige Berufsausstiege mithilfe der
kraniosakralen Osteopathie reduziert werden.

Methodik: Die randomisierte kontrollierte Studie
erfolgte Ende 2019 in einem Pflege- und Betreuungszentrum. Es nahmen 30 PA und 30
DGKP teil. Die Interventionsgruppe erhielt einen einmaligen CV4, die
Kontrollgruppe bekam eine Scheinbehandlung. Die psychische Belastung und
Beanspruchung wurde mittels standardisierter Fragebögen und visueller
Analogskala ermittelt.

Ergebnisse: Die CV4-Gruppe zeigte bzgl. psychischer
Belastung und Beanspruchung keine statistisch signifikante Veränderung im
Vergleich zur Kontrollgruppe (p>0,05). Männliches Pflegepersonal reagierte auf
einen CV4 mit einer Belastungsreduktion. Pflegekräfte der Demenz,- Schwerstpflege-
und Hospizstation zeigten eine leichte Verminderung der subjektiven Belastung.
ProbandInnen, die bereits Vorerfahrung mit kraniosakraler Therapie hatten,
können ihre erhaltene Behandlung besser einschätzen als ihre unerfahrenen
KollegInnen.

Diskussion: Ein einmalig durchgeführter CV4 an
Pflegekräften führt zu keiner Reduktion der psychischen Belastung und
Beanspruchung. Allerdings lagen die Belastungs- und Beanspruchungswerte der
ProbandInnen bereits vor der Studie unter dem Branchendurchschnitt. Weitere
osteopathische Studien mit belastetem Altenpflegepersonal sind zu empfehlen.

Abstract: Background: Nursing assistants and registered nurses represent
highly mental and corporeal stressed professional groups in geriatric residential
care. CV4 influences the psyche and the body as a hole in order to regulate its
self-healing process. The aim of this study is to determine, if the CV4 has an effect
on the mental workload and strain on geriatric nursing staff. Perhaps negative
health effects can be minimized, and long-term illness, burnout or early career
exits can be reduced with the help of craniosacral osteopathy.

Methods: This
randomized controlled trial took place in the end of 2019 in a residential
geriatric care center. 30 nursing assistants and 30 registered nurses
participated in this study. The intervention group received a single treatment
of CV4, and the control group got a sham treatment with similar hand hold. The
mental workload and strain were determined using standardized questionnaires
and the visual analogue scale.

Results: The intervention group showed no statistically
significant change compared to the control group considering mental stress and
strain (p>0.05). Male nurses responded to a CV4 by reducing stress.
Participants of dementia ward, heavy care and palliative care showed a slight
reduction in subjective stress. Subjects who had previous experience with
craniosacral therapy can assess their received treatment better than their
inexperienced colleagues.

Discussion: A single CV4 on geriatric nursing stuff does
not lead to a reduction in mental stress and strain. However, the stress and
strain values of the subjects before the study were below the industry average.
Further craniosacral osteopathic studies with stressed geriatric nursing staff
are recommended.
