Introduction: the purpose of this study was to evaluate the balance effect on the
sacroiliac joint osteopàtic treatment (SIJ).
Methodology: The balance of 32 subjects was evaluated by two tests preformed
with the Wii Balance Board: gravity center and athletic ability test. Next, a
diagnostic protocol for SIJ dysfunction was performed (5 selected motion palpation
tests and 4 pain provocation tests) to determine the existence or not of a
dysfunction. A positive SIJ dysfunction was considered with 3 positive selected
motion palpation tests and 2 pain provocation tests. Then, subjects where divided
randomly into a control (placebo treatment) or treatment group (osteopatic
treatment) before being retested with the diagnostic protocol and the balance
tests.
Results: Significant differences were found on the gravity center test between
control (5,77+2,87; 4,05+3,12); and treatment group (6,49+3,70; 3,15+2,80);
(p<0,05), but none differences were found on the athletic ability test. There were
significant differences on the T2 athletic ability subtest (p<0,05), for the control
group but none differences were found on any of the other subtests.
Conclusions: This study results didn’t confirm that the osteopatic treatment
improves balance on the studies variables. However, the results of this research
show a tendency through a positive improvement. - Abstract

Introducció: L’objectiu d’aquest estudi fou observar la influència del tractament
osteopàtic en l‘articulació sacroilíaca (ASI) sobre l’equilibri.
Metodologia: S’avaluà l’equilibri de 32 subjectes mitjançant dues proves
realitzades sobre la Wii Balance Board: Centre de gravetat i habilitat atlètica. A
continuació, se’ls hi practicà un protocol diagnòstic de disfunció sobre l’ASI (5
tests posicionals i 4 de reproducció del dolor) per confirmar l’existència d’una
disfunció. Per considerar una disfunció de l’ASI positiva es requeriren resultats
positius en 3 tests posicionals i en 2 de reproducció del dolor. Seguidament, els
subjectes es dividiren de forma randomitzada en un grup estudi (tractament
osteopàtic) o un grup control (tècnica control) abans de tornar a ser re-testats amb
el protocol diagnòstic i les proves d’equilibri.
Resultats: S’observaren diferencies significatives (P>0,05) en la prova centre de
gravetat entre el grup control (5,77±2,87; 4,05±3,12) i el grup estudi (6,49±3,7;
3,15±2,80), però no en el test d’habilitat atlètica.
En el grup control, s’observaren diferencies significatives en el sub-test d’habilitat
atlètica T2 (p<0,05), però no en cap dels altres sub-tests.
Conclusions: Tot i observar-se una tendència en la millora de l’equilibri, els
resultats d’aquest estudi no permeten confirmar que el tractament osteopàtic
millori l’equilibri en les variables estudiades. - presented at
