Methodik: Einschlusskriterien der Fragebogenstudie waren Säuglinge im
Alter von 0-6 Lebensmonaten mit Saug- oder Schluckproblemen mit oralen
Restriktionen. Die Fragebögen wurden online von den stillenden Personen
ausgefüllt. Insgesamt wurden 201 Fragebögen mit SPSS 23.0 ausgewertet. Es wurde
deskriptiv und inferenzstatistisch gearbeitet.

Ergebnisse: Die asymptotische Signifikanz zeigt in der Gruppe „Veränderungen durch Osteopathie“
signifikante Ergebnisse bei den kindlichen Symptomen „Schnalzen“ mit 0,004 und „Koliken“ mit 0,005, sowie bei
der Verbesserung der Symptome im Mittelwert mit 0,009.

Ebenfalls signifikante Ergebnisse zeigten sich bei dem
Symptom „Kopfsymmetrie“.
Es gibt durch osteopathische Behandlungen einen signifikanten Effekt auf die
Anzahl und Ausprägungen der Beschwerden der stillenden Person an der Brust und
bei der Milchbildung. Den größten Effekt in Bezug auf die Beschwerden bei
Säugling und stillender Person erzielte die Kombination aus mindestens einer
osteopathischen Behandlung und einer operativen Trennung der oralen
Restriktionen. Die Operation reduziert das Symptom „Schnalzen“, „hervorstrecken
der Zunge“ und das Symptom „Schlaf“.

Conclusion: Begleitend zu einer Operation einer oralen Restriktion
(Frenotomie) bringen osteopathische Behandlungen einen Mehrwert für die
Reduzierung der Symptome. Die Analyse der Daten zeigte signifikante Ergebnisse,
welche im osteopathischen Praxisalltag relevant sein können.

Abstract: en Background: Determining
the significance of osteopathic treatments in infants (0-6 months of age) when
oral restrictions contribute to sucking and swallowing disorders in infancy.
The study investigated if osteopathic treatments and surgical separation of the
tongue tie have an impact on the symptoms of infants and breastfeeding
individuals.

Research design and methods: Inclusion
criteria for the questionnaire study were infants aged 0-6 months with sucking
or swallowing problems and existing oral restrictions. The questionnaires were
completed online by the breastfeeding individuals. A total of 201
questionnaires were evaluated using SPSS 23.0. Descriptive and inferential
statistics were used.

Results: Asymptotic
significance shows significant results in the “changes due to osteopathy” group
for the childhood symptoms “clicking” with 0.004 and “colic” with 0.005, as
well as for the improvement in symptoms in the mean value with 0.009.

Significant
results were also seen for the symptom “head symmetry.” Osteopathic treatments
have a significant effect on the number and severity of complaints experienced
by the breastfeeding individual in relation to the breast and milk production.
The greatest effect in terms of symptoms in infants and breastfeeding individuals
was achieved by combining at least one osteopathic treatment with surgical cutting
of oral restrictions. The surgery reduces the symptoms of “clicking”,
“protruding the tongue” and “sleep.”

Conclusion: Accompanying
oral restriction surgery (frenotomy), osteopathic treatments provide added
value in reducing symptoms. Analysis of the data showed significant results
that may be relevant in everyday osteopathic practice.
